The Indianapolis Colts were able to re-sign veteran cornerback Xavier Rhodes this offseason in free agency. It was a move that was relatively unexpected, as many thought Rhodes would leave town. Having him back on the roster is great news for the defense and he is working hard this offseason to come back for another big year in 2021.
In a video shared by the Colts on Twitter, Rhodes is seen doing an insane beach workout. Check it out for yourself:
Rhodes will once again be a huge part of the Indianapolis defense this year. He was a big presence in the secondary for the Colts last year and helped bring some stability to the cornerback position. Once again, the team will need him to step up this year.
During the 2020 season with the Colts, Rhodes ended up recording 42 total tackles to go along with two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 12 defended passes. Those numbers show why Indianapolis wanted to re-sign Rhodes as a priority this offseason.
At 30 years of age, Rhodes was criticized heavily last offseason after being released by the Minnesota Vikings. The media talked about him as a washed up veteran who wouldn’t provide much value for the Colts. Obviously, Rhodes made them eat their words quickly.
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2021 NFL season, the Colts are hoping to keep their defense as a main strength. It has been years since Indianapolis had an elite defense, but that is where they are now. Rhodes will be a big part of keeping that unit at the top of the NFL rankings.
Expect to see Xavier Rhodes put together another successful campaign this year. He is working hard and the Colts should be excited to see what he brings to the field. No one will be able to say that he didn’t prepare and work hard during the offseason.
