Despite the Colts addressing the quarterback position in free-agency this offseason, they are still in communication with one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, six teams have met with Jordan Love virtually and the Indianapolis Colts are amongst them.

“The Colts could be an interesting option for Love with Philip Rivers signing just a one-year deal in Indy and backup Jacoby Brissett also a free agent after 2020. In Indianapolis, Love would have the potential to sit for a season as the Colts see how much Rivers has left in the tank.”

Love is one of four quarterbacks who have a strong chance at being drafted in the first round along with Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert.

The Colts, who hold the No. 34 overall pick, may still have a chance at Love if he falls that low. With other positions more of a priority, it is a bit of a surprise that Love is still that high on the Colts’ board.

If Love does fall to the Colts and they draft him with one of their early picks in the second round, it would mean either one, or both, of Rivers and Brissett would be off of the roster after the 2020 season.

In addition to the Colts, the Packers, Raiders, Saints, Dolphins and Chargers were the other teams mentioned.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, teams have had to adjust the ways in which they can speak to prospects as the NFL Draft is just a few weeks away.
