In the fall of 2000, the Purdue Football team embarked on a journey that would eventually crown the Boilermakers Big Ten Champions and culminate with a trip to Pasadena at the historic Rose Bowl. This weekend Purdue Football is paying tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the Rose Bowl team by wearing throwback jerseys. ISC Purdue had the opportunity to talk with the Defensive Captain of that Rose Bowl squad, Akin Ayodele.

Akin was a 3 year letter winner at Purdue from 1999-2001 and is all over the Purdue record books including 4th for sacks in a career (29) and 7th for sacks in a single season (11). Purdue fans will remember Akin for his quick burst off the line and strong pass rushing skills that ultimately led to him to being recognized as a member of Purdue’s Den of Defensive Ends. Akin went on to be drafted 89th overall in the 3rd round by the Jacksonville Jaguars and played for the Jaguars, Cowboys, Dolphins and Bills during his 9 year NFL career. Today Akin is a philanthropist, entrepreneur & motivational speaker. For additional information on Akin see https://www.akinayodele.com/
