Purdue Football Recruiting: 2022 Linebacker – Roman Pitre

We had a chance to talk to 2022 3* Roman Pitre following his official visit to Purdue during the first weekend in June. The rising senior is 6’6″ 220 lbs linebacker from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Here’s what he had to say about his visit:

“The visit was very fun. While I was out there I got to see the academic centers and football facilities. They also feed us really good. Something that stood out to me is the bond the players have with the coaches. Most of the players have a very large amount of respect for there coaches. Also the coaches seem to care about you more then just a football player which really stood out to me.”

The rangey linebacker is looking for a program with the right defensive scheme he can fit into and playing time as the two biggest factors in determining where he will take his talents. On the academic side Pitre is looking to major in either engineering or business.

From a recruitment standpoint Pitre has been in contact with Purdue DC and LB coach Brad Lambert, as well as Special Teams Coordinator Marty Biagi, who is the primary recruiter for Louisiana.

I think Roman’s self assessment of what he brings as a recruit is spot on, he said “I’m a very versatile player , there are not many people as big as me that can move like me. I think I can improve on pass rush moves and add more to my arsenal.”

Pitre took a visit to Louisiana-Lafayette this past weekend and has a visit to Arizona planned for this month, and will be looking to make a decision on his recruitment sometime before his senior season.
