The Indianapolis Colts made the big move to acquire quarterback Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason to replace Philip Rivers. It was a move that many expected from the start of the offseason, but Chris Ballard was able to get something done that made perfect sense for the Colts.

Now, Wentz is looking to put the Colts back on the map when it comes to Super Bowl contention. He is a major upgrade over Rivers and has the potential to have a very good season in 2021. Being able to play for Frank Reich again bodes well for Wentz, who played at an MVP level just a few short years ago.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2021 NFL season, Wentz sees something special brewing for the Colts. He opened up about his thoughts on his first year with Indianapolis in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

“You try to not think too much about that, you try to live in the moment, live in the present,” Wentz said. “But like you said, when you look around and see not just the talent, but the young talent. And then you combine that young talent with what we just talked about, a lot of good dudes, a lot of not just good players, but good people? It’s exciting. Don’t get me wrong, it’s exciting. There’s something special brewing here.”

During the 2020 season with the Eagles, Wentz ended up completing just 57.4 percent of his pass attempts for 2,620 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Those numbers were nothing close to what he was hoping to produce. He will look to turn his career back around with the Colts.

At 28 years of age, Wentz wants to get back to playing at the MVP level he knows he’s capable of playing at. If he can do that, the Colts are absolutely going to be a dangerous team in the AFC.

Something special could very well be brewing in Indianapolis this year. It has been awhile since the Colts were viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but that is the case now. Wentz gives the Colts a glimmer of hope for the first time since Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement.

Expect to see Carson Wentz come out looking to prove a point this season. He wants to silence his critics and loves the look of his new team. Everything seems to point in a very positive direction for Wentz in Indianapolis.
